For quite a while I've been attempting to get something on my site that showcases my love for movies - I've tried time and time again to do a databased system of movie ratings but found it to be far too time consuming to ever be an accurate representation of all the movies that I own. What can I say - I kinda want to brag about my collection! I've had far too many of my friends call me a movie rental store to not have a complete list of my movies online. Needless to say, placing a collection of DVD titles online in simple textual format doesn't do the collection justice. Collecting information and cover images one by one and diseminating it is far too time consuming!

In mid 2007, I found my answer to these problems as well as a lot more. As mentioned above, most of my friends appreciate how many movies I have and always ask to borrow them - and I've lost track of several movies this way. I've been looking for a while for a easy solution to the problem but found no easy outlier until I started looking for Mac, rather than PC, programs. In fact, what I've found is the holy grail of Cataloging programs and, to boot, at a budget price. Delicious Library allows you to scan UPC scanbars with a webcam, enter ISBN numbers and it'll automatically within seconds retrieve all usable information on the book, movie, video game or cd from Amazon.com and save it in your catalog. It also allows you to input users from your address book as borrowers and lets you setup when borrowed movies are due back from them so you'll never forget. I've been nothing but astounded by this little $40 program. The only thing that it lacks is a way to output all of this to the web - that's where Deliciweb comes in - a neat little addon that makes a pretty decent looking site out of your entire catalog.

So, before I continue to praise it - here's my Deliciweb Delicious Library Catalog. Enjoy! Those of you local to me, feel free to click the "I'd like to borrow this one" mail link and let me know which movies you'd like to borrow for a time - most of my movies are consistantly collecting dust.
